The Creative Process

We think that the process of making art is as valuable as the final product. Our comprehensive curriculum puts the emphasis on exploring and experimenting as much as teaching fundamental art skills and building art vocabulary. Students learn to look closely and identify nuances, to ask questions and to follow their intuition. Through creative engagement with a wide range of media and materials- watercolors, tempera paint, wax crayons, oil pastels, air-dry clay and more, students explore the properties of lines, movement, shapes, color, texture, form and space, while cut-paper and origami art activities help improve their fine motor skills.

About Alisa

Hi, and thank you for your interest in the Art of Shapes program! My name is Alisa. I'm a designer, illustrator and art educator. I feel blessed to have an opportunity to work with children and create art for children. I've been teaching  art in studio and public school settings in the San Francisco Bay Area, and now I am happy to share my passion for art with a larger community via our online creative lab.

I've developed the Art of Shapes program to nurture the creative spark in kids by helping them evolve their ability to see, analyze and capture the world around them through the process of making art.  The program provides step-by-step instructions and guides little artists every step of the way to developing their drawing and critical thinking skills. As a parent and an art educator, this is a very personal mission for me, encompassing the last 17+ years of my life.
